Peachhead™ Approved Vacations: Lake Arrowhead Resort and Spa July 2008

I just returned from another wonderful visit to the Lake Arrowhead Resort and Spa. Everything could not have been more perfect. The drive there was wonderful... no traffic. We got there early and our room was ready and what a great room: second floor, overlooking the pool and lake, and right near the stairs for easy access to the pool (Room 206). We had a wonderful day at the pool and enjoyed our lunch that was bbq'd at the pool. We even went down to the resort's private beach area and went in the lake. It wasn't nearly as cold as I thought it would be and we all enjoyed hanging out in the refreshing water. When my kids got tired of swimming they were able to go back to the room and play games on the balcony and wave to me while I stayed at the pool and read my book. How is that for relaxation!!!!

I let peachheaders know I was going to be there this weekend and one peachheader happened to be there this weekend as well and had a boat, so she picked us up at the resort's dock for a nice little boat ride in the lake. We made it to the Village in time to enjoy my favorite local band, Venice. They were amazing. My kids were looking forward to the campfire so I left the concert early and came back to the resort to enjoy the horses, storytelling, and the making of s'mores....what a perfect day with my kids....but it didn't end there. I stopped at Bin 189, the restaurant in the hotel, for a martini. I loved the way they presented it: a martini glass inside of another glass filled with ice to keep it cold. I had a pomegranate martini but then I watched the bartender make all of these amazing martinis, including an "Almond Joy." Went back the next night to try that one and boy, was it good.

In the morning we had breakfast at Bin 189. It was a wonderful breakfast. After hanging out at the pool for awhile, I took the girls fishing on the resort dock. The hotel rents fishing rods and sells the bait so the girls had a fun time fishing and Amber caught two fish. It is a catch and release policy so they were thrown back in, but boy did the girls get excited when they caught something. After hanging out in the pool, I used the spa to take a jacuzzi and steam. It is complimentary if you are a hotel guest. We went to the village tonight where they have a number of outlet stores and a great playground area for the kids with a playground structure, merry go round, inflatable slide, and go karts. It was a great way to end the evening.
