Peachhead™ Approved Vacations: Vacation in Lake Arrowhead, Lake Arrowhead Resort and Spa July 2013

I love to travel to places that are close enough to drive, yet distant enough to feel like you are far away from home. Lake Arrowhead is one of those places. A 2-hour drive from Los Angeles, and you are in among beautiful mountains overlooking a gorgeous lake. The Lake Arrowhead Resort and Spa is the perfect place to stay. It is a luxury resort overlooking Lake Arrowhead. It is family friendly and they have special activities for kids, including fireside chats, s’mores, guided nature hikes, and a scouts kids program with different activities. The rooms are nice-sized, the beds are very comfortable, and the rooms include coolers, which are great for storing your cheese and crackers and wine to enjoy on your patio with the incredible view of the lake. I would highly recommend getting a room with this view. The resort has a wonderful restaurant called Bin 189 that serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner. They have a special children’s menu, as well, which includes $5.00 breakfast, lunch, and dinner entrees such as a hamburger, pizza, and chicken fingers to $11 for a sirloin steak. I ate dinner there one night and it was wonderful. The restaurant is beautiful and spacious. The night I visited they had a piano player playing in the bar and you could hear him in the restaurant. which made the dining experience so enjoyable. We had a wonderful server, Nicole, who made sure we were well taken care of. Be aware that the salad portions are very large. Neither my friend nor I were able to finish our salads so you can easily share one.

When it's time to hang out, you can spend your day relaxing by the pool and Jacuzzi or you can walk to the lake, where they have lounge chairs set up. The lake is absolutely gorgeous so one morning we took a nice walk around the perimeter of the lake. The resort will give you the gate codes to enter the trail. I love to go for a boat ride on the lake so I contacted McKenzie Water Ski School. They offer private boat charters for up to 5 passengers. They also offer water ski and wake boarding lessons. We opted for the boat ride along the lake. Our driver was great. He told us interesting facts about Lake Arrowhead as well as point out different houses along the lake. What a beautiful way to spend the day.

After a day at the pool, I enjoy using the spa facilities to unwind. You have complimentary use of the spa facility if you are a guest at the resort. The spa has a terrific fitness room and aerobics room, a Jacuzzi and steam room, chilled aromatherapy towels to cool off, and fantastic showers with multiple shower heads. All of this is included with your resort fee. I also had a wonderful massage at the spa. The masseur was amazing because he was able to get my knots out and it wasn’t even painful; in fact, I was completely relaxed. This was a great way to end the day.

The Lake Arrowhead resort is a short walk from the Lake Arrowhead Village, where there are numerous restaurants, shops, and a fun kids area called Lollipop Park with a Merry Go Round, go carts, miniature golf, and more. I enjoyed visiting The Tea and Coffee Exchange in the morning for a crepe. At night, the Village comes alive with their summer concert series. While we were there we saw Kenny Cetera’s Chicago Experience and Queen Nation. Both bands rocked the night away.

Our last night in Arrowhead we had dinner at the Grill at Antler’s Inn. This is a beautiful restaurant in Twin Peaks that looks like a log cabin. It is one of the more popular restaurants in Lake Arrowhead, so be sure to make a reservation in advance. We thoroughly enjoyed our dinner and the service. It was a very pleasant evening.

Lake Arrowhead Resort and Spa is a wonderful getaway whether you are looking for a place to visit with your kids or a vacation with your friends or partner.

I would like to thank the Lake Arrowhead Resort and Spa for hosting my stay and McKenzie Water Ski School for hosting my boat ride on the Lake.
